Alan Kemper, a soybean producer from Lafayette, Indiana, is First Vice President of the American Soybean Association (ASA). He currently serves as Chairman of ASA's Public Affairs Committee. He has served as Vice President of ASA and on the ASA Finance, and Strategic Planning Committees.

Kemper has been a member of the Indiana Soybean Association since 1970, and has served as that organization’s President. He has also served as a Director for the Indiana Soybean Board, and on the agricultural staff of U.S. Senator Dan Quayle (1984-1989). Kemper served honorably for six years in the U.S. Army/National Guard.

Kemper began his studies at Purdue University, and is a graduate of Harvard’s Senior Management Agribusiness Course, and a Texas A&M Executive Management Agriculture Course. He is the recipient of the Indiana “Prairie Farmer” Master Farmer award, the Indiana and U.S. Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer of America. He also served as President of the National Corn Growers Association (1989-1990), and as Delegate/Director for the U.S. Grains Council (2001-2009).

Kemper’s farming operation includes corn, soybeans and cattle.

He is a Co-Founder and past Director of Foundation E.A.R.T.H., and served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. He served on President Clinton’s Sustainable Development Task Force on Agriculture, and on the Agriculture Policy Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Trade Representative (1999-2001 and 2005-present), and on the Agriculture Technical Advisory Committee for oilseeds and grains (2001-2005).

The American Soybean Association is a national, not-for-profit, grassroots membership organization that develops and implements policies to increase the profitability of its members and the entire soybean industry.

The American Soybean Association was founded in 1920.
