ASA/WISHH Africa Program Staff Travel to Liberia

Feb 20, 2014

The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) Program Manager Erica Morrow and Project Assistant Leith McIndewar traveled to Liberia this week to monitor activities on the multi-year “HANDS” project, sub-awarded under Opportunities Industrialization Centers International (OICI) and funded by USAID. During their visit, Morrow and McIndewar met with the nutrition, aquaculture and processing teams to plan for the fifth and final year of the project.

They will travel to River Gee and Grand Gedeh counties this weekend to meet with program staff and assess activities at two processing facilities in the areas. ASA/WISHH currently produces “Super Gari” there, a fortified blended food product that utilizes U.S. defatted soybean flour to enhance the nutritional benefits of locally produced cassava meal.
