ASA/WISHH Asian Division Director Alan F. Poock presenting at the U.S. Food Showcase in Myanmar

This week, the American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) program Director, Asian Division Alan F. Poock is participating in a USDA-funded Global Based Initiative (GBI) in the cities of Mandalay and Bagan, Myanmar. The U.S. Food Showcases are targeting the growing hotel and restaurant sector, especially in these two high tourist areas of the country. Each city has a two-day showcase, where restaurant and hotel owners, chefs and food service managers are learning about U.S. products, food safety and observing cooking demonstrations using new recipes and ingredients.

Poock is presenting on how value-added soy proteins and ingredients can be incorporated into popular food dishes.

Eight U.S. cooperators are promoting a wide range of products, including raisins, apples, beef, pork, potatoes, dry peas, lentils and dairy. Over 150 people are expected to attend between the two cities.
