The Board of Directors of the American Soybean Association (ASA) has confirmed Richard Ostlie from Northwood, North Dakota, as President, and Bob Metz from West Browns Valley, South Dakota, as Chairman. Board members also elected John Hoffman from Waterloo, Iowa, to serve as First Vice President, an office that places Hoffman in line to be ASA President next year. Also elected were Bob Rikli from Murdock, Nebraska, as Secretary, and Gary Joachim from Claremont, Minnesota, as Treasurer. Four Vice Presidents also were elected: Johnny Dodson from Dyersburg, Tennessee, Alan Kemper from Lafayette, Indiana, Ted Glaub from Jonesboro, Arkansas, and Rob Joslin from Sidney, Ohio. "ASA has a long and proud history of strong leadership that has brought us to where we are today. My goal is to follow that tradition by listening to the needs of all soybean producers and to use that guidance to focus my leadership. I believe it is essential for a strong leader to first listen to the needs of the people you represent."

New First Vice President John Hoffman said, "As Chairman of ASA’s Public Affairs Committee, I am looking ahead to extending the biodiesel tax incentive, and development of Farm Bill proposals that enhance U.S. soybean farmer profitability and are compliant with WTO requirements for global trade.
