ASA Celebrates National Ag Day in Washington

Mar 27, 2014

As part of the festivities for National Agriculture Week, ASA joined our counterpart farm groups for a series of events leading up to and following Ag Day on Tuesday, March 25.

Ag-DayOn Monday, ASA attended a discussion featuring Deputy Agriculture Secretary Krysta Harden and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman and recent Soy Champion honoree Debbie Stabenow and hosted by AgriPulse President Sara Wyant. Following the discussion was a celebration of AgriPulse’s tenth anniversary.

Tuesday brought a special unveiling of a new statue in the U.S. Capitol. Iowa chose to honor biotechnology pioneer and Nobel laureate Norman Borlaug with one of the two statues each state is granted in the Capitol. Following the unveiling, ASA attended the annual Ag Day Luncheon at the Russell Senate Office Building, a U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance panel on young farmers and ranchers, and interacted with college delegates from the Agriculture Future of America at AFA’s annual Policy Institute dinner.

On Wednesday, ASA representatives attended a special screening of the new documentary “Farmland”, which is scheduled for release later this year.
