ASA/WISHH Sponsors Meat Applications Trade Team to Idaho

The American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) sponsored an African trade team this week to learn more about meat processing.

WISHH meat applications consultant Marcus Hamilton shows the participants how to incorporate soy in their meat products at BYU in Idaho.

Director for Africa Erica Morrow, Regional Director Josh Neiderman and West Africa consultant Mamadou Bousso escorted five individuals from Cote d’Ivoire, Uganda and Nigeria to a meat applications course at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Idaho.

WISHH meat applications consultant Marcus Hamilton led the group in technical demonstrations involving the use of soy protein isolates in meat processing. Anita Florido of CHS, Inc. presented to the group while in Rexburg. Prior to arriving in Rexburg, Idaho the group visited Lower Foods, based in Logan, Utah to observe a large scale meat processing facility. The group concludes the trip next week with a visit to ASA headquarters in St. Louis, Greenville, Ill. to visit the farm of Jerry Gaffner and a full day tour at Dupont Nutrition and Health.
