ASA Director Ohio Bret Davis and Ohio QSSB member Keith Roberts observe soy milk production with Belinda Pignotti, USSEC Representative for South America and Virginia Panizza, director of the Bogota Rotary Soy Dairy Project. This project, supported by local animal feed industries and the Rotary Club, oversees 140 soy cows feeding approximately 40,000 children per day. USSEC supports them with nutrition education. American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program Executive Director Jim Hershey and Program Manager Liz Hare are in Bogota, Colombia this week with ASA CEO Steve Censky and a host of ASA farmers for the USSEC Global Strategy Session.

Throughout the week they will be participating in planning meetings, as well as meeting with U.S. soy customers and members of the food and feed industry. They also visited a soy dairy project supported by Rotary International—a supporter of soy projects for over 10 years. In Colombia, Rotary International supports 148 soy projects.  Later in the week, both Liz and Jim will travel to Guatemala to meet with partners and share lessons learned from the project in Colombia.
