Don Lutz

Scandinavia, WI

Don farms with his brother and nephew on a 1,300 acre corn and soybean farm in central Wisconsin.  About 500 of those cropland acres are irrigated. The area Don and his family farm is called the “Central Sands” of Wisconsin, and in that region, agriculture faces a number of ground water-related issues.

In addition to his service to ASA, Don serves as a director on the Waupaca County Farm Bureau board and as a director on the CHS Larsen Coop board. Don has a diverse education and work background. He is retired from a 35-year career as a statistician with USDA.  Most of his experience with USDA involved research and workplace technology implementation.

Don has a Bachelor of Science in animal science and in ag education, in addition to a Master of Science in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He also completed several graduate classes in survey and social research at the University of Michigan.
