Timberlake, NC

Jimmy Thomas, a farmer from Timberlake, N.C., has been on the American Soybean Association (ASA) Board of Directors since 2017. He has served as president of the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association, vice president of Person County Farm Bureau, president of North Carolina Farm Bureau Swine Committee, and on the Farm Bureau Field Crops Advisory Committee.

Thomas has farmed for more than 30 years with his family and says they are fortunate to be able to continue producing on the family farm, which was started over 100 years ago.

Along with soybeans, they produce wheat, corn and flue-cured tobacco. They have one of the last independent, farrow-to-finish swine operations in their area.

Thomas is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Janine, have two adult children, David and Ashley, both of whom also work in agricultural businesses.
