Pamela Snelson, a farmer from Wann, Okla., has been on the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) Board of Directors since 2015.

Snelson Farms is a cash grains operation with soybeans as the primary crop, grown on dry-land rotation with wheat and milo and a cow/calf component.

Snelson spent 15 years in the oil and gas industry traveling as an accountant in the International Division of Phillips Petroleum Company and held a number of officer positions in partner organizations. In 1984, she married Steve Snelson and a few years later began working as co-owner/operator of Snelson Farms. Snelson joined the Oklahoma State University (OSU) ag leadership ranks and remains an active alumnus. Snelson’s two sons both have specialized degrees from OSU and help bring innovation and new technologies to the fourth generation farm.

Snelson says working on marketing and production issues while raising a family kept her plugged in to the consumer voice, as she promoted the benefits of adapting soy into the diet by teaching classes, manning a booth and hosting tours of Snelson Farms to various groups.

Snelson grew up in Bartlesville, Okla. and graduated from what is now Oklahoma Wesleyan University. She serves on the board of several agricultural organizations to help promote a positive message for the industry and life she loves. She is a graduate of ASA DuPont Young Leaders, ASA and Syngenta’s Leadership At Its Best program, Masters of Beef Advocacy, Novartis New Century Farmer and others. She is also seated on the boards of the Oklahoma Cattle Women and Oklahoma Soybean Association.
