Feed Course Promotes U.S. Soy to Nigeria, Cambodia Buyers

Oct 04, 2018

A group of feed millers, animal nutritionists, ingredient buyers, and others from Cambodia and Nigeria gained a better understanding of soy utilization and instructions on purchasing U.S. ingredients during a recent feed manufacturing course hosted by the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH), in collaboration with Northern Crops Institute (NCI) of North Dakota State University.

The training included curriculum that drew upon the regional expertise of North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Emerging Markets Program (EMP) funded the activity, which was a customized course designed by NCI and WISHH staff to meet the specific demands of key industry representatives.

The course covered a broad range of topics including feed milling, animal nutrition, and risk management.

The program ended in Minneapolis, where participants had the opportunity to meet with suppliers of U.S. soy, including Northwest Grains International, International Feed and Grain, and the Scoular Company. Some participants received samples to present to their teams back home.
