FMC joins ASA in Supporting Grower Events to Engage Members in Policy Discussions

Sep 21, 2017

FMC representatives Mike Harper and Jennifer Horning speak at a grower meeting organized by the Iowa Soybean Association this summer in Wilton, Iowa. The meetings allow the Iowa Soybean Association to update growers on important policy issues and also provide a forum for growers to express their concerns about key issues that impact their operations.

The American Soybean Association (ASA) appreciates the generous support provided by FMC over the past few years to help several state associations hold successful meetings to engage members in discussions on key policy and industry issues. The meetings can also provide an opportunity to help non-members become more aware of the association’s work and the value in joining their state soybean association.

Recent events organized by the Illinois Soybean Association, Indiana Soybean Alliance, Iowa Soybean Association, and Missouri Soybean Association attracted hundreds of farmers to key farm show gatherings and meetings throughout these states. Farmers had the opportunity to hear from policy experts and congressional leaders on issues that directly impact their operations. Additional ASA Affiliated State Soybean Associations who have benefited from FMC’s support for these types of activities in the past include Ohio, Kentucky, Nebraska and South Dakota.
