Dean Coleman, a farmer from Humboldt, Iowa, has been on the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) Board of Directors since 2016. He’s served on the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) board since 2002 and was elected president, vice president, treasurer and at large. Dean also chaired the ISA Supply and Demand, Public Affairs and Information and Education committees. He’s been a voting delegate to ASA since 2006.
Dean is a third generation farmer who works with his wife and youngest son to grow soybeans and corn. The Colemans have hosted several foreign buyer groups on their farm, in addition to inviting local second and third graders out to plant soybeans and corn in the spring and harvest in the fall. Dean also post videos of what we do on our farm during the growing season for the teachers to use.
He’s held numerous positions at the county level with Farm Bureau, served a number of years on the county extension council, fair board treasurer and president and is a board member for a biodiesel plant start up. Dean served three years as a liaison to the United Soybean Board.
Dean and his wife have two sons, two grandsons and three granddaughters.
