Jered Hooker

Clinton, IL

Jered Hooker, a farmer from Clinton, Ill., began serving on the American Soybean Association (ASA) Board of Directors in Dec. 2017. He is the fourth generation on a farm that has been family-owned since 1875. His farming passion is to improve sustainable production through a coordinated mix of conservation, soil and plant health, and water quality.

Hooker joined the Illinois Soybean Association in 2006, and currently serves as treasurer, following two years as assistance secretary-treasurer. Also, he is the Illinois Soybean Association Liaison to the Illinois Corn Growers Association.

His other agriculture activities include director of FARM Illinois, farmer-director of the North Central Soybean Research Program, former secretary-treasurer of the Weldon Cooperative Grain Company, former finance chairman for Dr. John Warner Hospital Board of Governors, and a member of the DeWitt County Board.

Hooker served our country as a U.S. marine in Vietnam. He is a former college football coach. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Illinois.

Hooker and his wife, Jane, have four sons and six grandchildren.
