Monte Peterson

Monte Peterson, a farmer from Valley City, N.D., has been on the American Soybean Association (ASA) Board of Directors since 2015. He’s served on the Membership and Corporate Relations, Finance and Administrative Services and Strategic Planning, Trade Policy and International Affairs and Agricultural Advisory to U.S. CFTC committees.

Peterson has served on the North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC) since 2009 and served as chairman and research chairman. He is also on the North Dakota Soybean Growers legislative committee and council marketing committee. Peterson spent four years as director of the North Central Soybean Research Program.

He is a fourth generation grower who began farming in 1980. Peterson grows soybeans and corn on 5,000 acres. He has an associate degree in business administration from North Dakota State College of Science. In 2009, Peterson was named North Dakota Outstanding Agriculturalist for Barnes County.

Peterson and his wife Penny have two daughters and one granddaughter.
