Support Needed for Bipartisan House Resolution to Address West Coast Ports Slowdown

Feb 19, 2015

Congressmen introduced a House resolution last week, calling on the ILWU and PMA to conclude their negotiations as the work slowdown at ports along the west coast has a crippling effect on the nation's farm exports and industries across the country.

Reps. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) and Jim Costa (D-Calif.) introduced the resolution, also calling on the President to use “all tools at his disposal” if a shutdown occurs.

It is important that we get as many House members, especially Democrats, to support the resolution.  Please contact each House office you have a relationship with and encourage them to sign onto the bipartisan resolution.

ASA encourages soy growers to contact each House office they have a relationship with and encourage them to sign onto the bipartisan resolution. More information can be found on soygrowers.com in the “Soy Action Center.”

ASA also joined nearly 250 organizations from across industry on a letter to President Obama urging him to engage in seeking a solution.
