White House Announces Infrastructure Council

Jul 27, 2017

The Trump Administration announced the establishment of a new Presidential Advisory Council on Infrastructure earlier this month. The Council will “study the scope and effectiveness of, and make findings and recommendations to the President regarding, Federal Government funding, support, and delivery of infrastructure projects in several sectors, including surface transportation, aviation, ports and waterways, water resources, renewable energy generation, electricity transmission, broadband, pipelines, and other such sectors as determined by the Council.”

The advisory council reflects the Administration’s priority on infrastructure, which is shared by the American Soybean Association (ASA). Enacting a major infrastructure initiative that provides direct federal funding to accelerate upgrades to ageing locks and dams on the inland waterways system, navigation channels, ports, and harbors, as well as infrastructure networks necessary to provide greater broadband access for rural America is a top priority for ASA.
