WISHH Meets with Ghanaian Women Poultry Farmer leaders

Feb 08, 2018

ASA/WISHH personnel meet with newly formed Ghanaian Women Poultry Farmers' Association in Atlanta, Georgia at the international poultry exposition (IPPE).

The American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) program is managing a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food for Progress project in Ghana to strengthen the feed and poultry/egg industries. The project is called AMPLIFIES Ghana.

A delegation of leaders from the newly formed Ghanaian Women Poultry Farmers' Association paid their way to come to the international poultry expo (IPPE) in Atlanta and met with WISHH/ASA staff. This dynamic group of broiler and table egg producers is seeing demand for their products grow and are looking to invest in vertical integration. They are also concerned about the supply of soy protein throughout the year. Ghana both grows soy and, when supplies are tight, imports from the U.S. and other countries.
