Chris Slemp, Program Manager, Africa Division, American Soybean Association/World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH), traveled to Mozambique February 7 -13 to monitor activities being conducted as part of a McGovern-Dole Food for Progress sub award agreement. Slemp also made preparations for a recently awarded follow-on agreement for the same program. The five year extension includes 4,810 MT of Corn-Soy Blend (CSB) and will be used in 264 schools.

ASA/WISHH is leading the nutrition education component of the program. The WISHH supervised Team, including local partner ADPP, has traveled to schools to provide guidance to teachers on the importance of balanced diets, dental hygiene, and nutrition. This program has proven to be an effective means of introducing school aged children to soy foods and educating them about the nutritional benefits of soy consumption.
