ASA Participates in Biodiesel Board Meeting in Washington; Cunningham Elected Treasurer

The National Biodiesel Board (NBB) held its board meeting in Washington, D.C. this week. In attendance was, ASA board member Mike Cunningham (Illinois), ASA Washington representatives and many other soybean growers and state association staff.

The meeting focused on the recently released RFS proposal and included remarks from Chris Grundler, the director of EPA’s Office of Transportation & Air Quality, in addition to visits with congressional offices. Also during the meeting, NBB conducted elections for eight governing board positions. Re-elected or newly elected governing board members include:

  • Todd Ellis, Imperium Renewables
  • Kent Engelbrecht, ADM
  • Gary Haer, Renewable Energy Group
  • Ed Hegland, Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council
  • Ron Marr, Minnesota Soybean Processors
  • Bob Metz, South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Coucil
  • Robert Stobaugh, Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board
  • Ed Ulch, Iowa Soybean Association

ASA board member Mike Cunningham, already on the NBB Governing Board, was elected to serve as treasurer, while Steven J. Levy of Sprague Energy was elected to serve as the new NBB chairman.
