Corteva Young Leader Program

The Young Leader Program, sponsored by Corteva Agriscience, is American Soybean Association’s premier initiative for identifying and cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders. ASA’s longest-running leadership development program, Young Leaders was founded in 1984 and continues to set the bar for leadership training in agriculture, identifying and training new, innovative and engaged growers to serve as the voice of the American farmer.

Key Features

  • Inclusive Approach: Recognizes the integral role of both partners in a farming operation, regardless of off-farm employment.
  • Comprehensive Training: Focuses on leadership development, strategic communication, and policy advocacy.
  • Professional Networking: Establishes a strong peer network with other high-achieving individuals and farmers across the soybean sector.
  • Full Sponsorship: Participation is fully funded, covering all travel, lodging, and meal expenses.

Structured Professional Development

The curriculum is delivered in three distinct phases:

  • Phase I (December): Foundational leadership and professional development, media and communications training at Corteva’s global headquarters in Johnston, Iowa.
  • Phase II (Feb/March): Industry immersion held in conjunction with the annual Commodity Classic trade show and conference.
  • Phase III (July): An exclusive opportunity for ten selected Young Leaders to participate in the ASA Board of Directors meeting and engage in legislative advocacy on Capitol Hill.
