Over the past 10 days, ASA/WISHH has hosted a trade team from Myanmar to learn more about using and purchasing U.S. soy products.
The first week the team attended the INTSOY short-course, organized by the National Soybean Research Laboratory, which covered a wide range of topics, including processing, soy food trends and soy ingredients. During their time in Illinois, they visited Clarkson Grain to learn more about the many benefits of using food grade beans.
This week, the team visited DuPont Nutrition and Health in St. Louis, where they met with technical and product staff on the many applications for their value-added soy products.

The team then travelled to Fargo, N.D., where the Northern Crops Institute (NCI) organized a special short-course on soybean pricing and how to be better purchasers of U.S. soy. The team also visited Joel Thurstud’s farm, along with several North Dakota and area soy processors and exporters: SK Foods, Brushvale Seeds and Sinner Bros. & Bresnahan.
Funding for the team’s activities was provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) and North Dakota Soybean Council.
