Brent Swart farms near Spencer in Clay County, Iowa. He grows soybeans, corn, and cover crops with his brother, Steve. Operating the family farm for over 20 years, Swart is the 5th generation managing their land.

Swart Farms implements strip-till and no-till on every acre and uses cover crops on all their land. Passionate about agronomics, Swart received a bachelor’s degree in agronomy and earned a master’s degree in crop production and physiology from Iowa State University. Swart is an agronomist and principal owner at Cotton Grave Farm Management where they work with farmers and landowners to implement sustainable farming practices to improve soil health and productivity.

Swart is a past president of the Iowa Soybean Association, as well as a District 1 director. In addition, Swart also serves as a farmer member of the Midwest Soybean Collaborative, the Iowa State Soybean Research Center’s Industry Advisory Council, a director for Community State Bank, and an advisory board member for the Spencer Hospital and the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation. Swart is also a member of the American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers Association, and Iowa Farm Bureau.

Brent and his wife, Mandy, have two daughters who enjoy traveling, boating on Lake Okoboji, and cheering on the Cyclones! Brent spends his free time training for triathlons, officiating high school basketball, and flying as a private pilot.
