Drew Peterson is a fifth-generation family farmer in southeastern South Dakota, near Salem. Peterson returned to the family farm in 2010, and today, he and his wife, Lauren, and their two young children raise soybeans and corn and run a cow-calf and cattle feeding operation alongside Drew’s father, Steve.
Peterson joined the American Soybean Association board in December 2025 and serves as chair of the Biofuels and Infrastructure Advocacy Team. Prior to ASA, Drew joined the South Dakota Soybean Association as a Corteva Young Leader in 2019 and served as vice president of the board the last three years.
In addition to farming and ASA, Drew has served as a state legislator the last four years in Pierre where he advocates for his rural district, agriculture, and biofuels. He also serves on the South Dakota Ag Foundation. Peterson is a graduate of the University of South Dakota with a degree in finance, and he enjoys welcoming friends and family to the farm to pheasant hunt every fall.
