Luke Sayes

Deville, LA

Luke is a third-generation farmer from Deville, Louisiana.  He serves as a contributing member and second vice-president of the Louisiana Cotton and Grain Association, a trade and policy group that is made up of cotton and grain farmers for the betterment of Louisiana Agriculture.

Luke grows soybeans, corn, cotton, grain sorghum and rice on 7,000 acres, 4,000 of that being in soybeans.  Ninety percent of his acreage is precision leveled and utilizes furrow irrigation, but the greatest benefit of precision-graded ground, he says, is adequate and uniform drainage, as Sayes' area has up to 60+ inches of rainfall annually. He and his wife have two daughters, Lauralee and Chandler.
