Pat Swanson farms with her husband, Don, his brother, and their families on their sixth- generation farm near Ottumwa, Iowa. They raise soybeans, corn, and hay and have a cow-calf operation and feedlot. Conservation practices such as no-till, cover crops, terraces, buffer strips and waterways are utilized on their farm and are vital to protecting soil and water for future generations.
Pat owns and operates a crop insurance agency, helping farmers in the southeast corner of Iowa manage risk through crop, forage, pasture and livestock insurance.
Pat currently serves as a district director of the Iowa Soybean Association, secretary of the Wapello County 4-H Foundation and on the FCIC board of directors.
Pat is passionate about advocating for farmers through her involvement with CommonGround Iowa and her work with ASA.
