The Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education (CAFÉ) links the foodservice industry with the foodservice classroom. CAFÉ not only interacts with other foodservice and food media, but trains the trainers in the food industry, from high school home economics teachers to university culinary programs and esteemed culinary schools, to restaurant training programs and chefs, caterers and others in the hospitality and foodservice arenas.
The Green Award & Scholarship is selected and awarded by CAFÉ annually at its CAFÉ Leadership Conference, and since its inception in 2020, has been sponsored and funded by USB with ASA. The scholarship award emphasizes sustainability, including waste reduction, recycling, re-purposing, and other sustainability innovations in the culinary and culinary education space. It offers an outstanding platform for ASA and USB to share the soybean industry’s sustainability and conservation initiatives, along with innovative technology and improved farm practices supporting those efforts.
2020 winners included the Culinary Institute of Michigan and Valencia College in Florida, demonstrating the diverse geographic reach of this soy industry scholarship.
