U.S. Department of Agriculture FAS Administrator Ken Isley presents a certificate to Charles Njuba, one of the 17 USDA Cochran Fellows who participated in WISHH’s Institutional Meals Puzzle Workshop, sponsored by Indiana Soybean Alliance, at Purdue University this week.
The American Soybean Association (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) joined Indiana Soybean Alliance and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) at Purdue University this week to cultivate an exchange of ideas and find solutions to growing protein needs both domestically and abroad.
This international workshop focused on protein in the institutional food service sector and served as an informational and networking springboard for the participants.
Through an exchange of experience, science, and best practices for success, participants gained a better understanding of and perceived value for the role protein plays in an institutional meals program. The workshop consisted of four thematic tracks: nutrition; food science/technology; trade and economics; and institutional program sustainability.
In addition to presentations by expert academics, representatives from business, private voluntary organizations, and commodity cooperators, participants had a variety of interactive experiences to foster creative exchange of ideas and solutions.
