African Poultry, Egg Farmers Gain Knowledge on U.S. Soy Advantage

Feb 06, 2020

WISHH supports growth of the local poultry and feed industries by connecting attendees with the necessary technical, financial and buying resources to grow their businesses. They recently hosted a trade team including a recent U.S. soybean meal buyer, along with several poultry and egg farmers from Ghana and Senegal, at two poultry events in Georgia.

A WISHH trade team member participates in one of the practical training sessions at the University of Georgia’s International Poultry Short Course.

The University of Georgia International Poultry Short Course provided a comprehensive, hands-on training that covered layer and broiler production, nutrition, food safety practices, poultry house management and processing. Participants from 22 countries were able to network and share ideas to further the development of the poultry industry.

The International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE) is the world’s largest poultry and feed industry event and brings together a wide variety of industry representatives, creating new networking and learning opportunities for attendees.

The team also had the opportunity to learn about the advantages of U.S. soy while attending a USSEC sponsored luncheon.

Participation was funded under the USDA’s Agricultural Trade Promotion Program and Foreign Market Develop Program.
