Danny Murphy interview with Cindy Zimmerman

ASA President Danny Murphy tells farm broadcaster Cindy Zimmerman about ASA's priorities for farm bill legislation.

ASA President Danny Murphy and Communications Director Patrick Delaney joined agricultural editors and farm journalists this week for the annual Ag Media Summit in Buffalo, N.Y. Murphy and Delaney used the Summit's InfoExpo trade show to network with editors and update writers on the issues ASA is currently focusing on, including the most recent developments in the ongoing farm bill saga and European Union trade negotiations, as well as ASA's support of the new "GMO Answers" information campaign on biotechnology.

Prior to the start of the Summit, Murphy participated in a tour of agricultural operations in the surrounding western New York area, including corn and soybean farms, dairy and livestock operations, vineyards and orchards. Tours also included a visit to majestic Niagara Falls. The Summit closed with the presentation of the annual awards of the American Agricultural Editors’ Association (AAEA), in which the soybean family was well represented. ASA took home first prize in the speech and white paper category for Murphy's 2013 presidential address to the United Soybean Board (USB), and the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) took first in the blogs category for its Illinois Farm Families blog. The "Extreme Beans" mobile app from USB and Corn and Soybean Digest magazine also won the award for best mobile or tablet application. Additionally, Delaney and ISA Communications Director Amy Roady were each presented with Level One certificates in AAEA's Master Writer program.
