American Soybean Association Awards Soy Scholarship at Commodity Classic

The American Soybean Association (ASA) teamed up with BASF to award a student a with a $5,000 scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Recipients received their scholarships during the Commodity Classic media preview on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The 2014-2015 ASA Secure Optimal Yield (SOY) Scholarship is a $5,000 award presented to an outstanding high school senior who has achieved high academic and leadership requirements, and is planning to pursue a degree in an agriculture-related field at an accredited college or university.

Caleb Brannon of Puryear, Tennessee, was chosen as the 2014-2015 ASA SOY scholarship recipient. Brannon, a senior at Calloway County High School, will pursue a degree in agricultural business at Murray State University, Kentucky, beginning this fall.

“For the seventh year, ASA is pleased to partner with BASF to offer this opportunity to an exceptional student,” said ASA President Ray Gaesser, a producer from Corning, Iowa. “The agriculture industry has a bright future, thanks to dedicated young people like Caleb.”
