America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Invests in Rural Students

Dec 01, 2016

americas-farmersAmerica’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, is again giving students the chance to earn a $1,500 scholarship in an ag-related field of study, with more than a half-million dollars in scholarships available. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is projecting an average of nearly 60,000 annual job openings in ag over the next year years, so there has never been a better time for students to pursue a career in our industry. That’s why we need your help to spreading the word about America’s Farmers Grow rural education.

Grow Ag Leaders scholarships are available to students in 1,331 eligible counties across 41 states. High school seniors and college students can click here to learn more about the scholarship and may apply online through Feb. 1 here. The program is administered by the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Scholarship Program, but students need not be members to apply.

Farmers also play an important role in the program, as students must seek at least two endorsements from local farmers, submitted by Feb. 1. They may endorse a student application here or by calling 877-267-3332.  Scholarship recipients will be announced in the spring.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s ag innovators. Join your colleagues in supporting Grow Ag Leaders and the future of our industry by promoting the program to farmers and students in rural communities. Details are available here. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Grow Ag Leaders is part of the America’s Farmers initiative, which works with farmers to support local community groups, youth and schools. Sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, these programs have awarded more than $36 million in rural America since 2010. Learn more here.
