As anti-biotech opponents continue efforts against GMOs, ASA remains committed to getting the facts out to consumers and law makers.
Most recently, the Global GMO Free Coalition, launched on Tuesday announcing plans to fight the biotech industry in a news release.
Groups like these underscore the importance of ASA's activity in the Coalition for Safe and Affordable Food (CFSAF) and GMOAnswers.com. ASA will continue efforts to communicate that GMOs are safe, have a number of important benefits for people and the planet and allow farmers to feed a growing population.
ASA will also continue working with CFSAF and industry partners to emphasize the need for federal standards for FDA safety review of GMO technology and labeling, so consumers and manufacturers have consistent national regulations that won’t drive food prices up or cause a shortage of safe food for those who are suffering from hunger and malnutrition.
