The Supporters of Agricultural Research (SoAR) Foundation held an inaugural Congressional reception this week, where American Soybean Association (ASA) Director Steve Wellman was a featured speaker.
Wellman touched on ASA’s long-standing support for ag research and leadership on the issue, as well as the value of working in a broad-based coalition. Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis also offered comments to the group.
ASA is a Founding Member of SoAR and Wellman serves on the board of directors. The non-partisan coalition brings together universities, non-profits, farmers, commodity groups and science societies.
SoAR advocates for full funding of the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative, USDA’s competitively awarded grant program.
