ASA and Other Farm Groups Oppose Cuts in Crop Insurance in FY-2020

Feb 07, 2019

ASA joined other farm organizations in opposing any reduction in funding for federal crop insurance in the FY-2020 budget. The initiative included two letters, one to the leadership of the Congressional Budget Committees, the second to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.  Similar letters, organized by the crop insurance industry, have been sent in past years to ward off any proposals that would result in cuts to a program that farmers strongly support as the cornerstone for their risk management planning. The letter noted the importance of crop insurance in the current economic period of low prices and volatile trade conditions.
