ASA Farmer-Leaders Participate in AGP Annual Meeting; Meet with Media at DTN

ASA farmer-leaders and staff and representatives of ASA’s state affiliates were in Omaha, Neb. Jan. 17-18 to participate in the annual meeting of Ag Processing Inc (AGP) and conduct media outreach at DTN/The Progressive Farmer. ASA Chairman Steve Wellman met with DTN Editor-in-Chief Greg Horstmeier, Executive Editor Marcia Zarley Taylor, Ag Policy Editor Chris Clayton and Markets Editor Katie Micik to discuss ASA’s policy initiatives in 2013.

Wellman answered the group’s questions on trade, the 2012 Farm Bill, biotechnology, domestic and foreign policy, and transportation and infrastructure.

Following his visit with DTN, Wellman joined ASA Vice President Bob Henry, Board member Ron Bunjer and representatives from several state soybean associations for the AGP’s 29th Annual Meeting of the Stockholders in nearby LaVista.

AGP is a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in the procurement, processing, marketing, and transportation of grains and grain products, and is the largest cooperative soybean processing company in the world.
