ASA Mobilizes Soybean Farmers to Defend 2014 Biodiesel RVO

Oct 24, 2013

Following the circulation of a draft proposal indicating that the Environmental Protection Agency is considering setting the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) Required Volume Obligation (RVO) for Biomass-based diesel at 1.28 billion gallons for 2014, ASA called members to action. ASA asked members Thursday morning to contact the members of their congressional delegations to ask that they weigh-in with EPA and the Obama Administration in support of a 2014 RFS Required Volume Obligation (RVO) for Biomass-based diesel that is not less than 2013 production levels. The proposed levels would be a setback to the U.S. biodiesel industry, as production this year is expected to reach 1.7 billion gallons, and setting the 2014 RVO at a level lower than 2013 production, ASA argues, would be detrimental to the U.S. biodiesel industry and soybean farmers. ASA provided background talking points and a draft email for farmers to send at the Soy Action Center here.

Additionally, ASA sent our concerns in a letter to EPA and to the White House, which can be viewed here.
