The American Soybean Association (ASA) participated in a congressional briefing this week, hosted by the Farm Journal Foundation for the role-out of its recent peer-reviewed policy paper Leveraging U.S. Technical Assistance for Improved Development Outcomes, written by Ammad Bahalim and Dr. Joe Glauber.
ASA Washington staff gave opening remarks on the long term importance of agricultural development to trade and capacity building, which highlighted the work of the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH).
Glauber, senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and former U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Chief Economist, was the lead speaker at the briefing. Glauber’s remarks focused on the importance of Agricultural Trade Technical Assistance and engendered a public conversation on the issues for the next farm bill. The audience was made up of congressional staff, as well as members of the U.S. agricultural and development policy community.
