ASA and Soy Aquaculture Alliance Visit Congress

Apr 27, 2017

The American Soybean Association (ASA) and the Soy Aquaculture Alliance (SAA) recently met with Congressional staffers, along with a surprise visit from Rep. Tim Walz (D-MN), to share the importance of the U.S. aquaculture industry and the need for it to grow.

SAA was represented by Vice Chairman and Kentucky farmer George Martin. The team shared educational information on the ability of aquaculture to be a job creating industry and economic contributor. The group discussed some of the challenges that constrict the industry and prevent it reaching its full potential. Martin shared copies of the Working Waterfront, a short film that highlights the need for changes to allow U.S. aquaculture to deliver high quality, home grown seafood and valuable U.S. jobs, throughout the visits. Working Waterfront is available here.
