Last week in Kansas City, American Soybean Association (ASA) Director of Policy Communication Patrick Delaney spoke to members of the Agriculture Future of America Alliance (AFA) Forum on the ways ASA engages in policy work, how policy issues and positions are determined and how ASA stays impactful on the various issues important to soybean farmers nationwide.

The alliance is comprised of young professionals in the agriculture industry and offers members an opportunity to exchange ideas and seek professional development opportunities within their particular field.

"These men and women are the next wave of leaders in our industry," Delaney said. "Whether they're selling seed or lobbying their state governments on behalf of their company, a better understanding of how the policy process works at the federal level and impacts farmers on the ground is something that can absolutely help inform the way these folks do their jobs."

Joining Delaney at the Alliance Forum was Dr. Lowell Catlett of New Mexico State University, Walmart's Tres Bailey and John Deere's Deanna Kovar.
