The American Soybean Association (ASA) and other industries supporting the increased truck weight limits are actively lobbying House Members in support of an amendment to be offered by Rep. Reid Ribble (R-WI) that would allow increased truck weight provisions.
ASA is urging all states and members to contact their members of Congress in support of the amendment. ASA will issue an Action Alert with additional information and talking points for farmers, state soybean association staff and other supporters to use in contacting congressional offices.
The Highway Bill could be considered on the House floor the week of Oct. 26 or the week of Nov. 2 and the exact timing of the vote on the Ribble amendment is not known.
In addition to direct communications from ASA staff and soybean farmers, ASA has joined other agricultural organizations on a joint letter to House members expressing support for the Ribble amendment. That letter can be viewed here.
