ASA/WISHH CAST Cambodia Partner Team Meets in St. Louis

May 09, 2019

Partners from the following organizations attended this week’s meeting in St. Louis: ASA, WISHH, CAST, Auburn, Kansas State and World Vision.

ASA’s WISHH program hosted Cambodia-based staff and international subcontractors in St. Louis this week to plan the roll out of the ASA/WISHH USDA-funded Commercialization of Aquaculture for Sustainable Trade (CAST) activities for 2020-23. Present at the meeting were representatives from World Vision, Kansas State University, Auburn University and key WISHH staff from Cambodia and St. Louis headquarters.

CAST’s baseline study, underway now, will help identify the farms and enterprises CAST will target with business and fish farm management training programs. Cambodia is a WISHH-targeted emerging market. The CAST Food for Progress project is designed to accelerate production of high-demand fish species for the Cambodian market and develop a lasting aquaculture industry that recognizes the value of soy protein in feed. The project is a prime example of WISHH’s enterprise-driven development approach.
