Austin Leefers joined ASA in April of 2019 as the new business development lead and project director of the Cambodia aquaculture project, CAST. His time will be split focusing on growing existing partnerships and recruiting new strategic partners in an effort to expand the WISHH project portfolio and increase revenue while providing oversight and support to the WISHH aquaculture project in Cambodia. Leefers has spent the past five years working in international agriculture overseas in both the non-profit and private sectors. He has managed a farmers’ vegetable cooperative in Tanzania, a corn and soybean social business in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), and a peanut social business in Haiti. Leefers grew up on his family’s corn, soybean, and cattle farm in Carlinville, Ill. (Macoupin County) where his father and brother still farm. He holds a bachelor’s in international relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in international business from Hult International Business School in Dubai, UAE.
