ASAAP Meeting focuses on the Future State of the Industry

Members of the ASA Action Partnership (ASAAP) met in Louisville, Kentucky this week to discuss concerns, successes and the future of the ag industry.

Jack Bobo, Futurity CEO , used current economic and social trends, paired with emerging technologies to paint a picture of possibilities to watch for.

Special guest, Keith Rogers, chief of staff, Kentucky Department of Agriculture, provided an update on the Farm Bill and the intricacies and challenges of growing hemp.

The group also participated in and in-depth discussion about block chain technologies with speakers Adrian Lauf, Ph.D., associate professor computer engineering and computer science, University of Louisville J.B. School of Engineering; Rory O’Sullivan, Grain Discovery.com and Alexander Renz, New Mobility Lab.

USB Chairman Keith Tapp joined the group for a luncheon presentation on Checkoff priorities and how USB and ASA are working together.

USFRA Chairman Chip Bowling capped the meeting with a presentation about USFRA’s latest work and research.

ASAAP is a collaborative effort of all soybean industry sectors with a stake in the growth and profitability of the industry. The forum provides the opportunity for ASA’s state affiliates, state and national checkoff organizations, industry partners and national grower leaders to engage in critical industry focused dialogue.

The Louisville meeting was one of two annual meetings of the group. The next meeting is in March 2020.
