This week, ASA leaders including President Ray Gaesser, Chairman Danny Murphy and First Vice President Wade Cowan took part in a virtual public meeting hosted Wednesday evening by USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service to hear comments on the agency’s draft environmental impact statement (DEIS) for Dow’s Enlist and Enlist E3 soybeans. Both products are resistant to 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, or 2,4-D, and each ASA leader noted the benefits to farmers from these and other new herbicide-resistance management tools.
“Farmers need Enlist as a tool to not only address glyphosate weed resistance but also to enable us to continue to use the conservation practices to protect our soils and environment,” said Gaesser in his comments. “We have a long history of safe 2,4-D application on our fields nationwide.”
