ASA’s International Efforts Receive Praise from Secretary Vilsack

May 22, 2014

Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack singled out the ASA when answering a question at a recent conference on Feed the Future, hosted by the U.S. Agency for International Development.  Sec. Vilsack’s speech to about 400 USAID staff and stakeholders cited the many programs the USDA manages that contribute to agricultural development.

When asked how the private sector can get involved, Sec. Vilsack specifically lauded the ASA’s work around the world. He suggested that more economic development increases both food security and our own national security. He also challenged everyone involved in Feed the Future efforts to talk about the good work that is going on around the world to increase small farmers’ livelihoods and improve people’s nutrition.
