The American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) Aquaculture Handbook—Fish Farming and Nutrition in Pakistanwas in the spotlight across the globe this week.
The handbook, produced under the U.S. Department of Agriculture-funded “FEEDing Pakistan,” project is a new resource for Pakistan’s fish farmers and entire aquaculture industry.
Following WISHH’s debut of the handbook last week, Pakistani and U.S. news outlets featured articles on the project including: Dawn (Pakistan), Right Vision News (Karachi),Business Recorder and High Plains Journal.
WISHH’s FEEDing Pakistan has assisted approximately 2,000 Pakistani fish farmers and helped increase the market value of fish produced—tilapia—from zero at the beginning of the project to an estimated 450 mill rupees ($4.5 million USD) in 2014.
”The project would help strengthen the US-Pakistan relationship and lead to economic development as more and more people would engage in the fish farming business,” US Consul General Brian G. Health said.

The documentary was shown on select television channels throughout Pakistan and has over 1,500 views on social media.
