The Governor of Punjab Province, Mr. Mohammad Sarwar, feeds extruded, soy-based fish feed, produced locally in Pakistan with U.S. soybean meal, to tilapia during a demonstration at the conference.

The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) program co-hosted the first ever international aquaculture conference in Lahore, Pakistan this month with Kansas State University (KSU) as part of the USDA funded FEEDing Pakistan project.

Twenty speakers spoke to a total of approximately 200 attendees associated with fish production in Pakistan.  Organized by ASA/WISHH Country Representative R.S.N. Janjua, the conference showcased ASA/WISHH’s feeding demonstration results from 2012.  The feeding demonstrations, held on fish farms throughout Pakistan, introduced soy-based, extruded, floating fish feed and commercial Tilapia production to Pakistani fish farmers.  The conference further highlighted soy’s role in aquaculture.
