ASA/WISHH trade team members meet with Tom Myrtle, Jane Quartel and Izumi Mueller at Dupont Nutrition and Health in St. Louis.
A group from Africa learned more about soy protein and technology during the second week of a meat applications training sponsored by the American Soybean Association/World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) in St. Louis this month.
Six individuals from Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Uganda spent last week learning about applied technologies of soy protein isolates in various meat extension applications. While in St. Louis, the team spent a full day with Dupont Nutrition and Health to learn about the products available to their businesses.
The group finished up the week with a visit to the farm of Jerry Gaffner in Illinois. Gaffner explained how he cultivates his farm to the group, and was able to field a wide variety of questions to help the team gain a greater understanding of U.S. agriculture.
