The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (ASA/WISHH) has expanded its involvement with the Ghanaian food processing industry by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Yedent Agro Group of Companies Limited.
Yedent CEO Samuel Kwame Ntim Adu signed the agreement during a meeting with WISHH Regional Director for Africa Josh Neiderman at the ASA/WISHH Regional Office in Accra.
Yedent produces various food products for the Ghanaian market and aims to target the local baking industry with the introduction of defatted soy flour (DSF). Additionally, Yedent possesses Insta Pro extrusion equipment that can be modified to potentially transform the U.S. origin DSF into textured vegetable protein in future projects.
ASA/WISHH will support the partnership with a planned United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded Quality Samples Program container of DSF. Upon delivery of the product, WISHH will work with Yedent to provide technical assistance to local bakers to help build demand for future shipments.
